Together, we have worked to make a difference in our community and Dream Builders of America’s Youth Inc., would like to thank you. We ask for your continued support as we prepare for our second Celebration of Thanks Reception Fundraiser! We invite you to brunch, awards and a movie on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Beulah Grove Baptist Church, located at 1434 Poplar Street from 3:00 to 5:30. The cost is FREE and by invitation only because of limited space. Donations will be accepted and are tax deductible to the extent provided by law. Dream Builders is a 501(c) (3) corporation that has served the community since 2002.
Dream Builders has worked hard to reach out and make a difference in the lives of young people by continuing the Frederick Douglass Mobile Reading Room for youth between the ages of 3 and 13. We have moved our mobile reading room from Barton Village to River Glen. We seek to target the areas most in need. The kids are smart and excited about reading. We teach them to Read to Succeed! For the first time, this year we will continue our reading program into the summer at River Glenn. At the end of each 7 week reading session, we take the kids on a trip. Eventually, we really would like to have enough volunteers for multiple reading rooms and a bus for transportation. We will continue with our Judge John H. Ruffin Trailblazer Essay Scholarship giving out $4,000.00 in scholarships in May during the law day celebration to area seniors and those at the Youth Challenge Academy. Our high school Student Ambassadors are continuing to volunteer in the community and we are exposing them to positive people, places and things. Our goal this year is to take our youth on a tour of schools in Alabama. Last year we took our Student Ambassadors to tour Howard University in Washington D.C. thanks to you.
In our continued effort to address gun violence among our youth, we will be showing a movie called Destroyed, which was filmed in Augusta, using Augusta’s own young people, in River Glen. A portion of the proceeds from the movie will go to benefit Dream Builders. We were excited to help bring something positive to our community and to help our young people to see how on one hand dreams can be destroyed, yet, on the other hand dreams can become reality. Even out of something bad, something good can come if you work hard. Please join us for brunch and a movie and consider being a sponsor or making a donation.
We wish you peace and God’s blessings and I hope to see you at the movie!
