2015 JUDGE JOHN “JACK” RUFFIN, Jr. TRAILBLAZER SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY CONTEST
In honor of Judge John “Jack” Ruffin Jr., Dream Builders and the ACAAA are sponsoring their Fifth Annual Judge John H. Ruffin Trailblazer Scholarship Essay Contest. The essay contest is for graduating college-bound seniors only throughout the CSRA. The requirements are a maximum 4 pages, double spaced, 12 point Times New Roman essay. This year the essay writers must address the essay questions listed below, based upon actual research, about the trailblazing document The Magna Carta . A minimum award of $1000.00 each will be given to one male and one female winner, a local high school senior,and one each to one male and one female student from the Fort Gordon Campus of Youth Challenge.The winners will be awarded at the Law Day Dinner held by the Augusta Bar Association on May 7, 2015.
ESSAY DUE DATE: Essays must be emailed to DreamPlanAchieve.jeffords@gmail.com. by noon May 1, 2015 or mailed to Dream Builders at 437 Walker Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901. If mailed, the essay must be received by noon, May 1, 2015.
DATE FOR AWARD: The winners will receive notification by noon, May 5, 2015, and will be awarded at the Law Day Dinner held at the Snelling Center, 3165 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30907 on May 7, 2015. The winners must be present at the dinner to receive the award. The minimum $1000.00 award must be used for school related purposes. (i.e., tuition, books, tests, college rent).

The Magna Carta has been a foundation for the development of governments across the world including the United States of America. Identify specific examples from the U. S. Constitution based upon ideas set forth in the Magna Carta. Additionally, examine how these principles are being upheld and pursued in present day society on a local, statewide, or national scale.
